Google however sees it worth the money just to keep maintaining the old function and having it run smoothly in Chrome, because it means everyone else is having a bad experience on other up to date browsers, hence making it more likely they'll just use Chrome. Chrome still supports it while all the other browsers have deprecated it as they should.
